Our commitment
Free digital education is not truly for everyone if the website that presents it is not accessible to everyone. That is why we build grupulverde.ro so that it can be used by people with visual, hearing, motor or cognitive impairments, by older people and by anyone visiting from an old phone or a weak connection.
Accessibility tools
The round green button in the bottom-left corner (or the “Accessibility” link in the footer) opens a panel where you can adjust the site on phone, tablet and computer:
- Enlarge content — three steps, up to 140%, with the page layout reflowed automatically;
- Text spacing — more space between lines, letters and words;
- High contrast (white text on black, yellow links) and light contrast (black text on white, blue links);
- Greyscale — removes colour, useful for colour blindness or visual sensitivity;
- Highlight links — underlines and outlines them;
- Readable font — a simple typeface without strong contrast between strokes;
- Large cursor (on devices with a mouse) and visible focus for keyboard navigation;
- Stop animations — stops the animated logo, counters and fade-in effects;
- Reading guide — a horizontal band that follows your cursor or finger;
- Read on tap and Read page aloud — reading in Romanian with your device’s synthetic voice.
Your preferences are kept on your device only and apply to every page. The site also automatically respects the “Reduce motion” system setting.

Conformance status
We aim for level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines — WCAG 2.2, the standard also used by the European standard EN 301 549. Following a self-assessment in September 2026, the site is partially conformant: most requirements are met, and the known limitations are listed below. No external audit has been carried out yet.
What we have implemented
- semantic structure (hierarchical headings, navigation landmarks, lists) and a “Skip to content” link at the start of every page;
- full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus indicator, and dialog windows that can be closed with the Esc key;
- text of at least 16 pixels on phones and content that reflows without horizontal scrolling at zoom levels up to 200%;
- colours chosen for sufficient contrast between text and background;
- text descriptions for bar charts and important visual elements; decorations are ignored by screen readers;
- no flashing content, and the “Reduce motion” preference is respected.
Known limitations
- the external platforms we link to (Cisco Networking Academy, Code.org, social networks) have their own level of accessibility, which we do not control;
- read-aloud depends on the voices installed on your device; if there is no Romanian voice, the text may be read with a foreign accent;
- some documents received from partners (for example, PDF reports) may not be fully accessible — we can send them to you in an accessible format on request.

Legal framework
As a non-governmental organisation, we are not required to meet the accessibility requirements imposed on public sector bodies, but we apply them voluntarily. Statement prepared on 26 September 2026, reviewed at least once a year.
